Marilyn Manson faces a growing penalty of $500,000 for failed defamation and emotional distress claims against Evan Rachel Wood and artist Illma Gore. The judge, Teresa A. Beaudet, ordered Manson to pay $326,956 to Rachel Wood and $169,408 to Gore for legal fees under California’s anti-SLAPP statute. Despite Manson’s ongoing lawsuit alleging a conspiracy to tarnish his reputation, the judge largely gutted the case in May. Manson, denying the abuse allegations, is appealing the anti-SLAPP ruling while facing a trial on hacking and impersonation claims set for 1 May.
