On Wednesday, prosecutors in Kentucky dropped all charges against the professional golfer Scottie Scheffler, who was arrested after he allegedly ignored police at a traffic stop outside the PGA Championship. The golfer was driving to a curb near the golf course entrance when police set up a traffic stop due to a local man working in the tournament killed in a road accident. According to the police, Scheffler didn’t stop his car and accelerated, dragging a police officer, Bryan Gillis, to the ground. However, Scheffler’s attorneys denied the dragging allegation. Mike O’Connell, Jefferson County Attorney, lodged a motion in court to dismiss all charges against the golfer, to which the judge agreed. O’Connell said the evidence against Scheffler did not meet the probable cause standard.
