Despite the super-lightweight world champion Devin Haney’s undefeated record of 31 fights with 15 knockouts, Ryan Garcia (24-1 with 20 knockouts) was slated to earn a higher share due to his social media influence. Oscar de la Hoya, Garcia’s promoter, revealed Garcia could pocket around $30 million for the fight, potentially doubling if he wins. The purse split favored Garcia at 55/45, as disclosed by Bill Haney, Haney’s father/trainer. However, Haney accepted the smaller split to make the fight happen. Veteran boxer Dan Rafael stated Garcia would pay Haney $600,000 plus 2% of pay-per-view profits if certain buy thresholds are met.
