American singer Britney Spears and his father, Jamie Spears, have settled their ongoing legal dispute over the conservatorship after the first filing in December 2021.
Both parties’ attorneys confirmed that they settled the dispute for an undisclosed sum in Los Angeles Superior Court on Thursday. Britney’s attorney, Mathew S. Rosengart, stated that although the conservatorship was terminated in November 2021, she is truly free now.
She no longer needed to attend court or be involved in legal proceedings in this matter. Rosengart added that Britney won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored. On the other hand, Jamie’s attorney stated that both parties settled their legal dispute, resolving all outstanding disputes.
The dispute began in 2008, causing Jamie to be removed as the conservator of her estate and termination of the entire conservatorship. Later, Jamie began pursuing court approval for more than $2 million in fees that he paid to multiple law firms throughout the legal battle.
