Former two-divisions champion, the notorious Conor McGregor, will finally make his 170-pound return to action against Michael Chandler at UFC 303. This five-round main event is set to appear on 29 June from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
The UFC made this fight official on Saturday night during the UFC 300 post-fight press conference. It has been a long time since McGregor made his return to the Octagon; his most recent outing, a UFC 264 fight with Dustin Poirier, ended with a broken leg.
Last year, after injury, he returned to The Ultimate Fighter 31 as coach of the Team McGregor against the Team Chandler. However, the reality also didn’t make McGregor’s return because he hadn’t enrolled in the UFC’s anti-doping program.
This past October, he again submitted himself to drug testing. The test lasted six months, and he was finally cleared to fight as of March. This sparked rumors that McGregor would face Chandler at UFC 300, but due to his prior commitment to promoting the new Road House remake on Amazon, the fight was delayed.
On the other hand, Michael Chandler has also been out of action for over a year, waiting for the McGregor fight. His last fight was in November 2022 against Dustin Poirier, in which Chandler suffered a submission loss to Poirier.
Chandler hopes for the biggest comeback when he faces McGregor in UFC 303.
