On Wednesday, American television producer and screenwriter Dan Schneider filed a defamation lawsuit against the “Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” producers.
Schneider called the documentary a “hit job” that falsely implied that he sexually abused child actors when he was working with Nickelodeon as a producer and writer.
In the lawsuit, Richard McKie and Jana Moser, the producer’s attorneys, criticized the docu-series for negatively impacting Schneider’s reputation. However, Schneider has also admitted that some of what the defendants said is true.
He regrets his actions for the rest of his life. The only thing he doesn’t want to take is the allegations of child sex abuse that will forever spoil his reputation and career.
“Quiet On Set,” released on 17 March 2024, is a docu-series that uncovers the toxic working conditions behind some of the most iconic children’s shows of the late 1990s.
The documentary included interviews with former crew members, writers, and actors who worked in toxic environments. It received over 16 million viewers in just two weeks, becoming one of the most-watched shows ever on the Max app.
The show shared details about Brian Peck, former acting and dialogue coach, sentenced to 16 months in prison as a sex offender. It also mentioned Schneider being accused of mistreating women and children on sets.
